Powerline Cable Transmission, or PCT, is the platform that started remote reefer monitoring. And RTE created it.
In 1985, we were the first company to release a PCT remote reefer monitoring platform commercially. This method takes advantage of the existing network of 3-phase electrical cables to provide the conduit of communication between each reefer and the monitoring software interface.
Reefer and monitoring interface send and receive data through a series of high-frequency signals injected onto the power line.
Since this platform uses electrical cabling already installed, there is minimal equipment needed for a complete installation that covers hundreds of refrigerated containers.
