Missed communications cause delays and cost money.
BEACON™ prevents them—at a glance.
Real-Time Visual Alerts for Reefer Operations
BEACON™ is a visual alert system for refrigerated containers (reefers). It converts RTE’s GRASP-generated work orders into color-coded LED signals that guide plug-in, unplug, and inspection tasks across the yard.
Real-Time Visual Cues
Know instantly when to plug, unplug, or inspect—BEACON’s bright color-coded LED signals remove all guesswork.
Connected to TOS Workflows
Automated TOS-GRASP synchronization converts work orders into real-time visual prompts—aligning dashboard instructions with yard activity.
Operational Clarity
BEACON breaks through notification fatigue—keeping crews focused on what actually matters for improved operational outcomes.
How BEACON, GRASP, and TOS Work Together
Reefer operations move fast. The systems behind them need to move faster.
BEACON, GRASP, and your TOS work in a closed loop to eliminate uncertainty, verify every action, and keep cold‑chain performance on track. The result: clear direction, faster action, and fewer errors across the yard.
Workflow Overview
- TOS – Generates the official list of scheduled reefer activities — arrivals, departures, plug‑ins, unplug requests, and reefers requiring manual inspections.
- GRASP – Transforms those lists into structured work orders, assigns them to the correct reefer, and activates BEACON with the appropriate visual signal.
- BEACON – Displays bright, color‑coded visual cues directly on the reefer so crews know exactly what action is required — no radio calls, no guesswork, no delays.
BEACON Color System
Yellow — Plug‑In Work Order
Green — Unplug Work Order
Blue — Manual Inspection Required
Red — Active Reefer Alert
Clear — No Action Needed
These colors turn system data into immediate, visible direction — guiding crews with zero ambiguity.
Step-by-Step Automation Loop
Example: Reefer Arrival — Plug-in Work Order
Step 1: List Created
Every reefer arriving at the terminal is logged and queued for action from a list created in TOS.
Step 2: BEACON Activated
GRASP generates work orders from TOS lists, assigning color signals in real time to BEACON at each reefer slot. In this example, yellow for plug-in.
Step 3: Crew Action
Yard personnel plug in the reefer’s power cord and connect BEACON’s data cable to the reefer’s data port.
Step 4: Auto-Update
GRASP instantly updates the reefer’s status. The system confirms the plug‑in event automatically — no manual entry required.
Step 5: Reset and Confirm
GRASP resets BEACON and closes the loop, returning the LED state to OFF. GRASP sends a verified status update through the platform.
This closed‑loop workflow ensures every action is captured, verified, and reflected system‑wide — increasing operational yard efficiency, without missing a beat or slowing things down.
The result.
When every reefer action is verified, every signal is clear, and all systems stay in sync, your yard runs with total confidence. BEACON turns operational noise into operational certainty — reducing delays, eliminating guesswork, and protecting the integrity of your cold chain from the moment a reefer hits the terminal until it’s finally discharged.
